An adult mission trip is being held from April 30^th to May 5^th. 

The trip will be through Samaritan’s Purse and will take place in Bertie County, NC.

Join us for a new study on Wednesday night at 7:00 pm called God’s Answers to Life’s Difficult Questions by Rick Warren.

Drawing from the examples of different biblical characters who faced the same issues, Warren offers concise, practical insights you can understand and apply in order to move past everyday struggles and experience a life of purpose, peace, and significance.

The session titles are:

• How Can I Be Confident in a Crisis?
• How Can I Live above Average?
• How Can I Overcome Loneliness?
• How Can I Ever Change?

A preacher recalls an instance during the Sunday evening service. When he finished speaking, he asked, “Is there anyone else who would like to say something?”

At that, a rather dignified visitor stood up and said, “Yes, sir, I’d like to say something. This is the first time I’ve been back in this church in 35 years. I attended Sunday School in my grade school days, and I see here tonight my old Sunday School teacher, Mr. Alton.” And he turned to face him.

Mr. Alton’s eyes opened wide as he looked at the stranger, who asked, “Mr. Alton, do you remember me? I’m Hurley.” After a moment or two, a smile came over Mr. Alton’s face and he said, “It’s been a long time and I’m getting kind of old and my eyesight is not so good.” 

The visitor continued, “Mr. Alton, I want to tell you something that I think will make you happy. I traveled a long way to talk to you and ask your forgiveness. We were the meanest boys that ever were in Sunday School, and we gave you all kinds of trouble. I guess I was the ringleader in the mischief and meanness that went on.  On the Sunday before my family moved away, I was particularly obnoxious. After leaving class I remembered something I had left in the room and decided I’d better get it since it was my last day. So I went back, and as I looked in the door I saw you seated up front with your head bowed, and it sounded like you were crying. I heard you pray, ‘O Lord, please help me.’ Mr. Alton, I stayed very still for a long time, and then slipped away.  For five years, I hurt inside whenever I thought of you praying there. One day it suddenly occurred to me that I was on the opposite side of the Lord, and I’d been there ever since I was a boy. I’d upset the class and I’d upset the Sunday School and I’d upset everything. It made me pretty miserable. Finally I gave my heart to God. I’m an elder in my church now, thanks to the prayer you prayed that day. I’ve been thanking God for you for many years now, & and tonight I’ve come to thank you & to let you know.”

I share this story with you as a reminder that we may pour ourselves into people and it may seem like it all falls on deaf ears but we never know the impact it will make and when.

Each week we see new people, children through adults, that visit with us and we need to have the same attitude that Jesus does – they all matter!  Nobody said that it is always going to be pretty and neat, but when we choose to share Jesus it is never wasted.

When you see someone you haven’t met whether it is a child, youth or adult, extend a hand and introduce yourself.  You never know when the opportunity to be Jesus to that person will impact them and change their lives!

I would like to invite you to join us on Monday nights for an hour of prayer.

This is an opportunity to pray for requests and to also seek God’s wisdom and direction or our lives and for Redland Valley.

If you are uncomfortable in praying out loud, then come and pray silently.

The original church was started at a prayer meeting, so we see and understand the importance of prayer in the life of the church.

Everyone is welcome as we approach the throne of God with praises and requests!

This past Sunday, we looked at the life of Solomon.

Solomon was the son of David. When God asked him for whatever he would want, he asked for wisdom. Because Solomon didn’t ask for wealth or death for his enemies, God was pleased and gave him over and above what he had asked for.

Unfortunately, Solomon had a weakness: wives and concubines. This went against God’s commands and eventually became a stumbling block for Solomon. He turned his devotion from God to the gods of his wives and impacted the entire nation of Israel.

This coming Sunday, we will be looking at the impact Solomon’s decision had on Israel.

As we look at what happens next, we’ll find lessons for our own lives that help us in our journey as Christians and God’s Church.

We have seen from our studies the impact of sin and the necessity to flee from it. Sin has far-reaching implications that have the potential to not only affect our lives but for our families’ and beyond.

We are blessed to have the privilege to study the lives of those that have gone before us so that we can learn and grow from their stories.

If you have not joined a small group, you can still be a part of a group. Call the church office and we can get you plugged into a group. This is a great opportunity to dig a little deeper, discuss what we are learning and get to know some new people.

It is that time of year again where we need to be watching the weather!

If any services need to be cancelled due to inclement weather, an announcement will be made on WHP Channel 21, WHTM Channel 27 and the radio station WHP 580.

We are planning a men’s retreat for March 16-18 at CRC. 

The weekend will focus around what it means to be a man of God.

The weekend will include food, fun and fellowship as well as a time to explore being men of God in our homes and church.

A $50 deposit is due by January 25^th and the balance will be due the day of the retreat.
